

CARROLL, Geraldine Louise (Welsh) – 65, of Halifax passed away on July 11, 2010 at home. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late John Edwin and Janet Catherine (Williams) Welsh. Geraldine attended South Armdale Elementary, Armdale Jr. High, and Halifax West High School, also was a parishioner of Bethany United Church, a member and leader of C.G.I.T., a figure skater and member of the King City Figure skating Club, played guitar, piano, and sang with Bluenose Belles and Citadel Chimes Ladies Barbershop Choirs. She was an avid bowler, a tireless hockey mom, and babysitter to many nieces and nephews. She worked at Honeywell Industries, Acadia Offshore Services, Atlantic Insight Magazine, Rick Hanson’s Man in Motion Tour, New Leaf Enterprises, and the Atlantic Lottery Corporation. Geraldine is survived by her husband George W. Carroll, sons; Thomas (Toronto), and Trevor (Hubbards), four sisters: Elsie (William) Baird, Aurora Ont.; Linda (John) Thomas, Lower Sackville; Joan (Tom) Tanaski, Dauphin Manitoba; Kathy Welsh (Norman Andrews), Halifax; brothers Lionel (Cecelia), Max (Shirley), Gordon (Audrey), Clyde (Carolyn), Halifax, Kenneth (Beth), Bouctouche, N.B.; brother-in-law; Hugh Graves; three grandchildren; Trevor Mathew, Aurora Ont., Jacob and Declan, Toronto, Ont.; and many nieces and nephews. Geraldine is predeceased by brother George and wife Helen, sister Irene Graves and sister Catherine in infancy; niece Tanya Carroll, and nephew, Dillon Thomas. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, July 15th in Bethany United Church.
