

Age 95, Halifax. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gertie on February 6, 2022, at Arborstone Enhanced Care. Born in Garnish, Fortune Bay, N.L, she was the daughter of the late George and Martha (Grandy) Cluett. Gertie was survived by her daughter-in-law Diane (Pelrine); grandson, Jason (Johanna), Burlington, Ont. and granddaughter, Shauna (Fernando), Halifax; brother Gerald (Tryphena) Cluett, Halifax; her sisters-in-law Irene and Joyce Cluett; cousin Melita and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey; sons Dave and Gerald; brothers, Alfred, Walter, Roy, Reuben, and Charles; cousin Susie Janes; nephew Ronnie.
For over 25 years Gertie worked as a librarian at H.M.C Dockyard Stadacona. Gertie was a wonderful baker and seamstress. In her youth she taught sewing lessons and in her retirement she made over 300 baby quilts which she donated to the IWK Health Centre. Gertie was a member of St. George’s Anglican Church, where she donated countless squares and volunteered many hours at the soup kitchen. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Angela Morash, Dr. Sophie Couture, Liz and the staff at Arborstone Enhanced Care, Father Nicholas Hatt, Father James Purchase, our family and friends.
Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax on Thursday Feb. 10 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, (call the funeral home to register for the visitation - 902.455.0531) . Due to COVID-19 restrictions, registration with the funeral home is required to attend. Funeral service, by invitation only due to on-going restrictions, will be held on Friday February 11 at 10am.
