After graduating from St. Pat’s High, he went on to study at Saint Mary’s University where he completed his Bachelor of Commerce in 1979. After graduation, he went on to complete his CMA. At this time, Greg relocated to Newfoundland where he travelled around working for his Grandfather’s Pharmacy, Manson Drugs. He was very proud of his Newfoundland heritage and was always very excited to meet anyone who had a connection to Ramea, where his father was born.
He relocated to Sydney Cape Breton, where he met his wife, Kathy MacPherson. Greg and Kathy were married 1984, where they started their family and went on to have three sons. After several years working for Manson Drugs, Greg went on to work for the Nova Scotia Government for over 30 years. Greg worked as the Director of Transportation and Public Works, Executive Director of the department of Justice, and, at his retirement he was Executive Director of Financial Advisory, NS Department of Finance and Treasury Board.
In his leisure time Greg enjoyed golfing, reading, amateur photography, travelling with his wife, and was the self-proclaimed “founding” member of the Basinview Canine Club, where he walked his dog, Stella. Greg enjoyed playing in his annual golf “tournaments”, the Penny Challenge, and the Trident Cup. Greg loved spending time with his friends and family playing crib, and enjoyed many nights playing music around the “Tiki Bar”.
Greg was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather, loyal brother and favourite uncle. He will be remembered for his quick and whitty sense of humour and infectious laugh. He knew how to tell a great story. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
