Greta Beth Smith

Greta Beth Smith, (Harpell), age 87 of Halifax, NS, passed away on May 12, 2014, at the QEII Health Science Centre. Born in Halifax, NS, she was the daughter of the late Lira and Evelyn (Sim) Harpell.

Greta loved her friends (the girls) with whom she bowled or played cards. While alone, she crocheted, worked puzzles or read magazines. She loved the cottage and time spent with her family and grandchildren. She was a lover of good quality white wine.

Survived by her husband, Eric C. Smith; sons, Dale (Monica) Smith, Dean (Jenny) Smith; daughter-in-law, Mona (Day) Smith, grandchildren, Shane (Jessica), Todd (Samantha), Eva, and Erin Smith, and 2 great grandchildren, Liam and Owen Smith.

Predeceased by her twin brother, Gerald Harpell (2012); sons, Wayne (1986) and Barry (2006) Smith; daughter-in-law, Audrey (Johnson) Smith (1986).

Arrangements have been entrusted to J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. (455-0531). Cremation has taken place. A graveside committal service will take place at Fairview Cemetery on Friday, May 16, at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
