Born on December 20, 1930 in Half Island Cove, NS he was the son of the late Elizabeth (England) and Stanley Hendsbee.
In Guy’s early adult life, after completing his training in Wainwright, Alberta, he served overseas during peace time with the Canadian Armed forces (Army). Following his time in the Army, he then worked for the Metropolitan Regional Housing Authority as a Stationary Engineer, from where he retired in 1996,
after 33 years of service. Guy then spent his time volunteering as President of the West Halifax Housing Co-operative for more than two decades. Family was very important to Guy evidenced by the “Sunday dinners” where he would cook a boiled dinner or roast beef that no one else could replicate. His children and grandchildren would also savor his perfect poached eggs on toast. Anyone who knew Guy appreciated his level of commitment in everything he did and understood the rule of being on time.
