

YOUNG, Helen Marie – 92, passed away June 3, 2012 into the awaiting arms of her late husband, Al Young. At the time of her passing, Helen had been a resident of Parkland Estates (Bradford Hall) for many years. She was the daughter of Frederick and Bridget McGrath and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Helen worked at Income Tax early in her life and then later moved on to work with Unemployment Insurance until her retirement. Helen was a devout member of St. Agnes Church and was also a member of the Children of Mary and Catholic Women’s League. With her amazing sense of humour and her deep love for dance, Helen and her husband, Al, would light up the room as soon as they took to the dance floor. Helen loved her family dearly and is survived by: daughter, Debi Sweeney and son-in-law, Steve Sweeney; grandchildren Kyle and Jeffrey Sweeney; Blair Young, Jonathan Collins and many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Al, of 61 years; son, James; sisters Doris and Lillian and brother Frederick. Helen’s family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff at Bradford Hall, for all the amazing love and care given to Helen over the years; she loved every one of you and never forgot your names.
Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531 on Wednesday, June 6th from 7-9pm. Service will be held at St. Agnes Church on Mumford Rd., Halifax on Thursday, June 7th at 10am. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
