

O’Neil, Henry Joseph “Hennie” – age 77 of Halifax, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014. Born in Halifax to the late Henry Joseph “Harry” and Marguerite (MacLean) O’Neil. He worked for 50 years as a longshoreman (member of ILA Local 269) retiring in 2006. Hennie enjoyed travelling, camping, motorcycling, and dancing.
He is survived by his loving son, Joseph (Dianne), Calgary, AB; grandson, Joshua O’Neil, Cody Hollick, Adam Zinck; great granddaughter, Brooklyn Zinck; sisters, Peggy (George) Elliott, Arlington, VA, Valerie Adshade, Marjorie Conrad, Donna Ryan, Connie Burns, Debra (Terrance) Deleon and brother, Edward (Kathryn), all of Halifax, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Lillian, Sandra, and Patsy.
A special thank you to Joe’s mother, Geraldine “Jerry” Strickland, for caring for Hennie during his time of illness.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, (455-0531) from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, Monday, July 14, 2014. Memorial service in the Snow Chapel at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 15, Jim Norton Officiating. Reception to follow.
