

Mom worked at Sears in Returns for twenty years where she made many wonderful friends. She was a founding member of Saint Margaret of Scotland Church and a faithful member for many years. She was also a past member of the Eastern Star Lodge, Emerald Chapter. She loved to knit and kept her grandchildren supplied with sweaters, hats and mittens. She also liked to knit lap afghans, which she would donate to seniors at Northwood.
She is survived by daughters, Greta (Bob) Wilson, Diane (Don) Snider, Nancy (Greg) Sampson, Donna (Ron McAulay) Strong; grandchildren, Stephen (Adele) Hazel, Randy (Jennifer) Hazel, Michelle and Michael Snider, Melanie (Kurt) Hepditch and Marc Strong, Calgary; great grandchildren, Eden and Rowan Hazel, Deacon and Charlie Hazel, Logan and Peyton Hepditch. She is also survived by sister, Jessie Alley, Stephenville, NFLD; brothers, Roland (Gwen) LaFosse, Dartmouth, Tom (Millicent) LaFosse, St. John’s, NFLD, as well as sister-in-law, Helena LaFosse, North Sydney, NS.
Mom was predeceased by husband, Hartley; sister, Mary; brothers, Edgar and George LaFosse; nephews, Clyde LaFosse and Edgar LaFosse.
We would like to thank Mom’s caregivers, the Newfoundland Ladies, as well as Marie Hines from PEI, for looking after Mom in her home over the last two years. A special thank you to Viola Westcott, who provided exceptional, compassionate care for Mom during her last days. We are forever grateful.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 18 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral Service will be held at Saint Margaret of Scotland Church, Robie Street, on Thursday, November 19 at 11 am, Rev. Canon Charles Bull officiating; burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A reception will be held in the church hall following the service.
