This is a short story about Jackie and Ben to share if you will allow.
Jackie was in the prime of her youth in the late 40’s when she decided she wanted to learn how to fly an airplane. She was able to achieve her pilot’s licence with the help of a handsome flight instructor named Ben. They fell in love, got married and even flew their Cessna’s side by side.
To further Ben’s flying career, these two francophones “emigrated” to English Canada with a 3-month-old baby in tow. They arrived in the small town of Gander Newfoundland and were welcomed into the community. They learned English with many comical stories of misinterpretations along the way.
Ben’s career flourished and together they raised their family. The airline transferred them to Montreal, and then to Halifax where they eventually retired.
Ben (our father) passed in 2014 and on 27 June Jackie (our mom) followed him into history.
Oh the adventures they had
