Born in Halifax, NS. He was the son of Russell and Louise (Christian) Lawrence.
Sam is survived by his special friend, Marjorie Waddleton; sons, Darrell (Ruth) of Halifax and James Jr. (Rita) of Bedford; sisters, Lorraine and sister-in-law, Barbara; grandchildren, Kelly, Richard and Jonathan; great - grandchildren, Hunter and Chase; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Joan (Kelly) Lawrence; his parents; brothers, George Thompson and Ronald Lawrence; sisters, Helen, Madeline and Catherine.
Visitation will be held from 1-2pm with a Memorial Service starting at 2pm on Thursday March 12 all in J A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
