

Janet was born on September 6, 1945, to Mary V. Murphy (Verge) of Sober Island and Harry Edward Murphy of Ecum Secum, Nova Scotia.
She is survived by her sisters, Dale Caines nee Murphy (Michael) of Atlanta, Georgia; and Margaret Tremblay nee Murphy of Halifax. Loving aunt to nieces Erika Carroll nee Caines of Ottawa, ON and Terri Vernon (Drysdale) of Middleton, NS; and nephew Nathaniel Caines of Atlanta, Georgia. She also leaves behind great-niece Shane Vernon of Middleton, NS, and one great-nephew Riley Carroll of Ottawa, ON (Erika and Dennis Carroll).
Janet worked in the Pharmacology Department at Dalhousie University at the Tupper Building for 43 years before retiring, as an administrator. She also worked for 15 years at Dalmy's ladies apparel store at the Halifax Shopping Centre.
Janet joined and served with the Naval Reserve for several years with her sister, Dale, sharing many adventures and creating wonderful memories!
A loving sister and caring aunt, Janet was generous to a fault, giving her time and help to those in need. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Viewing at J.A. Snow Funeral Home on Lacewood Drive, Clayton Park on Monday, April 17th, 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 18th at 11:00 AM at St Theresa's Catholic Church on North Street, Halifax.
