Johanna grew up on Shore Drive in Bedford and attended Sacred Heart School, and then Normal College in Truro. She taught school in London England and Yarmouth NS prior to settling in Montreal and teaching at several schools within the Montreal Catholic School Commission. Johanna loved the opera and sharing meals with her “opera group”, live theatre, travelling, and antiques. She enjoyed painting water colours, making homemade cards, calligraphy and many any other creative activities. In 2000 she moved “home” to NS to be closer to family. Johanna spent many years enjoying retirement, travelling and regularly attending the symphony and Neptune Theatre in Halifax.
Johanna had an amazing sense of humour and a huge generous heart. She loved her niece and nephews and they will always be grateful for her unconditional love and support.
Johanna is survived by her niece Jocelyn Ternan, Herring Cove and her nephews, Christopher Ternan, Calgary and Scott Ternan, Vancouver and their mother Patricia Ternan, Calgary. Johanna is also survived by her 100 year old Godmother, Grace ( Ternan) Mader.
Predeceased by brothers Patrick (2013) and Frank (2016) she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Special thanks to the caring staff at Drummond Hall and to Pati Elford for her love, support, and friendship, we are truly grateful.
