

Born in Halifax on April 3, 1954, he was the son of the late John Leslie and Sheilah G.R. Leitch (nee Chase). He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Meister), sister Elizabeth (Ben) Wegg, Calgary, niece Emily Kate Wegg (Dani Villafuerte), Calgary and many cousins.
JL held many jobs in his life as well as being the owner of JL's Courier. He was an avid lover of swimming, figure skating, chess, badminton, guitar, fishing and golf. He loved taking long drives on his beloved motorcycle (1981 Goldwing among others). He was also a founding member of the Halifax Chapter of the Widows Sons.
In his younger years, JL was a member of the Youth Group at United Memorial Church and Model Parliament. After graduating from Queen Elizabeth High School he moved on to St. Mary’s University where he worked at the radio station between classes.
He was proud to be a Third Degree Past Master of John Albro Lodge No. 122 in Bedford where he met so many amazing people. It was a strong influence on his life.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at V3West – Cedar Crest who took care of JL while he was a resident.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of JA Snow Funeral Home. There will be no visitation or service. A celebration of life, masonic service and interment will take place in January 2026.
