

It is with heavy hearts the family of Jack Mac Neil announce his passing at the Victoria General Hospital October 6, 2021 at the age of 85 surrounded by his family. A devoted husband, father and proud grandfather will be greatly missed.
Until recently moving to Halifax to be closer to family, Jack lived in Big Pond Centre where he was an active member of his community and St. Mary’s Parish. Jack worked in the construction industry until his retirement after 27 years at Municipal Ready Mix. Always ready to support his neighbors, over the years he was a member of the Big Pond Volunteer Fire Department and was always on-hand to help out at St. Mary’s Church and parish breakfasts.
He was survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Angela (Devoe); daughter Maureen, Halifax; grand-daughter Courtney (Conrad), Middle Sackville; son David, Timberlea; brothers Daniel (Mary-Ellen) and Michael; sisters Catherine (George), Sandy (Gerry) Mazerolle, Mary (Roger) LaForce, Anne Garland, Agnes Aasvangen, Rose and Theresa; in-laws Brian Devoe (Jane), Joyce (Doug) Poole, Brenda Sexton, Mabel (Gerald) D’Eon, Lorraine (Gerard) Doyle, and Jane (Gary) McNeil; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Michael R and Agnes; brothers John S, Leo Patrick, and one brother in infancy; in-laws Kevin Devoe, Beverley (Jim) McGrath and Theresa Devoe.
Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00 pm Tuesday, October 12 at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral mass will be held 2:00 pm Friday, 15 October at St. Mary’s Church in Big Pond followed by burial in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Big Pond Centre. Please note current provincial COVID protocols will apply.
