

Born and raised in Halifax, he was the eldest son of the late John and Margaret (McIntosh) McNair. Beloved husband for over 67 years to Kathleen “Kay” (McDonald), loving father to sons, John “Kevin” (Karen), New Zealand, David (June), Robert (Sharon) and daughter, Charlene (Peter) Chiasson, all of Hammonds Plains. Eight grandchildren, Marie (Leonard) Muise, John (Amanda), James (Sarah) Chiasson, Kathleen “Katie” (Craig) Fetterly, Joanne (Andrew), Bobby (Nicole), Alexandria and Antonia. Eight great-grandchildren, Aiden, Lillian, Sebastien, Colby, Austin, Cameron, Jacob and Kaylee. He is also survived by brothers, Patrick (Peggy) and Ronald (Judy) and sister, Jean (Bobby) Moore, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Stephen and sister Selena.
John worked for most of his career as a mechanical plumbing estimator for J. D. Bremner’s, then CC MacDonald and after his retirement he was happy to give a helping hand to his two sons with McNair Bros Plumbing . He was so proud to be able to help Family.
John was a long standing member of the Independent Order of Foresters and the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 162.
An avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman’s gave family a supply of great memories!
Our Father may be gone, but his wit and humour will be forever remembered.
Visitation will be held at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Tuesday, February 21st from 2– 4 pm and 6- 8 pm, with funeral service on Wednesday, February 22nd at 10 am in J. A Snow’s Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
