J. Stephen Dunn, PEng., MBA, age 58, son of Ronald and Muriel Dunn of Halifax. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Steve on Sunday May 27th, 2012, while running the last leg of the Cabot Trail.
Born on April 5th, 1954, he is survived by his wife Colleen Pereira (daughter of Alice and the late Richard); daughter Ashley (Kristian Macdonald); son Chris; stepsons Ian Edwards and Nick Edwards; sisters Heather (Michael Kroger), Linda, and Maria (Jerome Sampson); brother Jim (Lorraine); and many nieces and nephews.
Steve attended Saint Mary’s University and TUNS. He was a highly successful consultant for several local and international companies, and had developed a knack for finding solutions to difficult situations and helping companies with problem solving. He was in the peak of his career and sought after in his field.
He loved his family dearly, participating in frequent gatherings. Regular communication with texts and phone calls were a constant for his family. He wanted everyone to be happy and enjoy life to the fullest. He would often make a meal for his family, and watched and took pictures while they ate; saying “isn’t this great”. Steve made early morning walks at Point Pleasant Park with his mother a priority. He was an avid runner, and supported several Nova Scotia races, having participated in the Cabot Trail for over 20 years.
He was the rock and constant in so many peoples’ lives. He left too soon and had so much more to give.
The family wishes to thank all family and friends for their thoughts and prayers. Visitation will take place at Snow’s Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive from 6:00-8:00pm Thursday May 31st. The funeral will take place at Canadian Martyrs Church on Inglis St. at 1:00pm, Friday June 1st, 2012, followed by a reception at 2:00pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Steve Dunn Scholarship for Engineering Students. Contact: [email protected]. On-line condolences: www.jasnowfuneralhome.com
