Joyce Conrad - 94 years, surrounded by family, went home to be with her Lord at Victoria General Hospital on Sunday October 25, 2026, after a sudden illness. Born and raised in Spryfield, NS, she was the daughter of the late George “Bud” and Jean (Drysdale) Yeadon. She was an active and long-time member of Full Gospel Church.
Born and raised in Spryfield (Halifax Co) NS. She and her brother, Bruce, grew up on the family farm, raised by a family who were loving, kind, and generous in spirit. "Good stock" as her brother would say.
She graduated from Queen Elizabeth High (QEH) and then went on to Halifax Vocational School.
She worked for Morse’s Tea Company as a young woman and later met the love of her life when he came to preach at her church. They were married and together raised their family of five children.
Over the years their love for the Lord led them to serve in pastoral ministries throughout NS, including Jeddore, Mahone Bay, Port Hawkesbury, Dartmouth, Burlington, and Middlewood.
She loved serving in children's ministries, women's ministries and music ministry, playing piano.
She found joy in making her home a happy place to raise their family while at the same time embracing all who sat around the family table to sample her homemade hospitality - especially those fresh-from-the-oven, delicious apple pies. As her child rearing stage turned to a new page, she went to work as secretary for the VON at the Victoria General Hospital for 10 years before retiring.
Her life was a living testimony of her love for the Lord, and she shared that love with everyone she could wherever she went. She dearly loved her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Until we meet again in that beautiful place the Lord has prepared...we will miss her more than words can say.
A special offer of gratitude is extended from family to those wonderful staff at Melville Gardens who lovingly cared for our Mother. Deep appreciation to the ER and ICU staff that cared for her in her final days of acute illness.
She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Ruth (Tim) Longard of Bedford; Betty (David) Schrader of Brantford, ON; sons, Jonathan (Amy) Conrad of Anderson, IN; Stephen (Elaine) Conrad of Russell, ON; David (Angela) Conrad of Beaver Bank; 17 grand-children; Benjamin (Juliet), Nathan, Mark, Jonathan (Rachel), Rachel, Sarah (Scott), Joshua (Karoline), Daniel (Cassandra), Caleb (Jennie), Jennifer-Anne (David), Stephanie (David), Timothy (Jenna), Michael (Sherry), Kathryn, Elias, Samantha, Aspen; 31 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Reverend Donald Conrad and brother, Bruce Yeadon.
Visitation will be held from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday October 29th at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr, Halifax.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday October 30th at Full Gospel Church, 2256 Larry Uteck Blvd, Halifax. Those who wish to view the funeral online can do so here:
