Kenneth "Ken" Charles Cato

CATO, Kenneth Charles - 89, of Halifax, NS was requested back home by his wife of 55 years (late) Claire Emma (McAndrew) on February 20, 2011. Born in Montreal, QC, he was the son of (late) Bernard Thomas Cato and Clara Sarah (Ball). He is survived by his sons, Donald Charles, wife (Lyn),St John NB and Bernard Leslie, wife (Selina) Orleans ON. Nephew, next best thing to a son, Chris Lang , wife (Edna), Halifax, grand children - Juley Mary, Heather Rose, Anthony Bernard, Kenneth Donald and great grand children. Ken served in the Royal Candian Air Force during the Second World War.

He was a Chartered Insurance Broker and retired as the Manager of the Ecclesiastical Insurance PLD here in Halifax after over 60 years in the insurance industry.

Ken was a Charter member of the Timberlea and Area Lions Club and transferred to the Sackville NS Lion Club. He was awarded a lifetime membership, also a recipient of Melvin C.Jones Award. Ken was actively participated in the annual Lions Easter Bunny and Christmas Cakes campaign, Prior to moving into Parkland Estates he actively participated at the Beacon House Food Bank in Lower Sackville. At Parkland Estates he was on the Dining Committee, and assisted in the canteen and on bingo nights. Always willing to lend a hand he will be greatly missed by all.

Celebration of Life will take place at Parkland Estates, Halifax, NS on Thursday, February 24, 2011 (2 - 4pm). This informal gathering will consist of stories and pictures to Celebrate Ken's life. All who attend and who wish to pass on, any interesting stories or tales are encouraged to do so. Pictures are welcomed as the family is putting together an album

In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to Scleroderma Society of Canada, NS Chapter, #305 6116 Almon Street, Halifax, NS, B3K 6R5 in support of his daughter-in-law Selina.
