Leslie Warren Layne

Born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on November 20th, 1953, Les lived a full and remarkable life filled with love of family, joy of travel and the beach, and an utmost dedication to work, honor and respect.

Les was an incredibly proud Persian Gulf War Veteran, serving in the Canadian Armed Forces Air Command for 20 years. He was bestowed the honour as a veteran to lay a wreath at Halifax's Grand Parade Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11th, 2025.

He was a selfless and loving man, fully dedicated to caring for his family. His greatest joy in the world was his children and his grandchildren whom he loved spending time with whenever possible and doing anything that made them happy such as telling stories, going to the park, or playing catch with a baseball.

Les was his happiest and most at peace when he was at the beach listening to the crashing sound of the waves. Whether it was locally at Lawrencetown, or in the Dominican Republic where he frequently loved to go, when by the water you could always see a quiet appreciative smile on his face.

Survived by his spouse, Maureen, his children (Jeff, Kristi, and Jamie), their spouses (Shellene, Ryan, and Jody), his grandchildren (Emily, Brayden, Nathaniel, Kelsea, and Ceci), and two of his brothers (John and Ralph).

He was deeply loved by his family and will forever be missed.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date for family & close friends.
