Lloyd John Melanson

Lloyd John Melanson, age 74, of Halifax, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2018, in the Halifax Infirmary QEII. Born December 10, 1944, in Halifax, he was a son of the late Camille and Agnes (LeBlanc) Melanson. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s University and McGill University.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Marilyn (Murphy) Melanson; brothers, Roy (Lucille) Melanson, Dartmouth; David (Erin) Melanson, Halifax; Bernard (Dorothy) Melanson, Markham, ON; sisters, Shirley (Donald) Bellefontaine, Porters Lake; Doris (Morris) Doucette, Scarborough, ON; Eileen Melanson, Dartmouth; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Marion) Murphy, Dartmouth. Lloyd was predeceased by brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Shirley LeBlanc, Cornwall, ON. Lloyd is survived by nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Lloyd was employed at the Atlantic School of Theology. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Philatelic Society and a Regional Judge of Stamps. Lloyd received the Governor General Award for Volunteers. He was a member of various librarian societies.
There will be a visitation at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 6-8 pm. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 3, at Saint Benedict Church at 10:30 am.
Memorial Donations may be made to Saint Benedict Parish or a charity of your choice. Special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at the VG Hospital and the Halifax Infirmary, QEII for their special care and compassion.
