Louise was born on August 4, 1947 in Charlottetown, PEI. She graduated from the Dalhousie School of Social Work in 1972 with a Masters of Social Work. Louise began her career at the Grace Maternity Hospital and held other social work positions at the Home of the Guardian Angel, the Abbie J Lane Hospital, and for almost 25 years at the Dalhousie University School of Social Work.
Louise remained active in the field of social work in her retirement, lending her time and talents to the Alumni Association. Through her professional involvement, she became well known to social workers all over Nova Scotia. Her contributions in the field of social work will have a lasting impact.
Louise had many long-lasting friendships which she held very dear. She provided a helping hand, a thoughtful ear and advice to many friends and family. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining, travelling and playing bridge and MahJong. We remember Mom as a kind, loving and generous mother who encouraged us to pursue our goals and instilled family values.
Her greatest delight in recent years was being "Sittie" to her 7 grandchildren. They brought her tremendous joy and she was a loving and present figure in their lives.
Louise was an active and devoted member at St. Peter's Anglican Church. We will remember her independent and determined spirit and will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, at J.A. Snow Funeral Home on 339 Lacewood Drive from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be at 10 am on Thursday, September 29, at St. Peter's Anglican Church. Family flowers only.
