Mabel was born in Port Hood, Cape Breton on April 21, 1931 to Ernest and Annie Bell (Fraser ) Watts, she was the youngest of her family. Mabel was predeceased by her brothers, Clarence and Levi and sister Matilda. She is survived by her brothers Wilfred and Melvin.
Tilly’s husband Sanford worked at the Shipyard and knew a young man Colin Pattison. When Sammy was building a house in Fairview, Colin volunteered to help. There he met Mae and commenced a wonderful life together.
They raised 8 children who will miss her, Deborah Smith (Kim) of B.C., Coleen Flinn (Chris) of Halifax, Judith Smith (Tom) of Halifax, Ralph ( Brenda) of Cole Harbour, Rodger (Lynn) Mackenzie BC, Sanford (Diane) St. Stephen, NB, Keith of Halifax and George ( Lisa) Hampton, NB. She also leaves a beautiful family of 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Mae was a kind committed spouse, mother and friend. She raised her family for many months alone while Colin served with the Canadian Navy for 35 years. She survived Colin by 14 years and was lovingly supported by her children.
Visitation and Reception will be on Thursday 12 pm – 2 pm at Snows Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Drive Halifax. A 3 pm Graveside Service to follow at Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
