Marcia Leslie Mathews

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Marcia Leslie Mathews on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 17, 1974 Marcia is survived by her father and stepmother Doug and Barb Mathews of Glen Margaret, NS; her mother Vicki Oland of Gagetown, NB; brother Peter Mathews and his wife Tracy Sutherland-Mathews of Fredericton, NB; sister Megan Mathews and her husband Kent Fullarton of Victoria, BC and stepbrother Chris Wright and his wife Susan Brodsky-Wright of Somerset, Ma. Marcia is also survived by her beloved nephews Isaac, Frank and Henry and her cherished nieces Madi, Drew and Bee as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Marcia graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University in 1997 and found rewarding work with Gateway Homes Inc. for over twenty years. The much-loved residents and coworkers at Gateway became Marcia’s close knit second family until ill health forced her to take early retirement.

While facing serious health issues much of her life, this did not stop Marcia from developing a circle of special friends who were a source of great joy and support to her. In particular Marcia will be missed by dear friends Ivan Boudreau; Lorna Riley; Elna Siebring; Angela Hayes-Doyle; Jocelyn Henry; Kelly Forrestall; Robin Smith-Armstrong; Nancy Carey and the good folks at Peter’s Place.

A celebration of Marcia’s life will be held on Saturday, May 31 at Snow’s Funeral Home on 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gateway Homes; Peter’s Place or the charity of your choice.
