Born in Grand Anse, Cape Breton on September 29, 1938 to parents Allen Normand and Margaret Annie (MacRae).
She is survived by her husband of 50 years Ronald, sons Robert and Allen, grandchildren Dallas and Colter and great-grandbabies Thor and Khaleesi.
The last of her generation, her siblings were Lena, Archibald (Archie), Mary Christine (MC), George (Papa George) and Gordon. Margaret grew up in Cape Breton and moved to Halifax to work and where she would meet her husband Ronald. She was a legend at the Lower Deck where she would take lunch and dinner orders for scores of regulars and newcomers alike without ever writing anything down – many times knowing what the patron wanted in advance of ordering!
She and Ronald semi-retired to Cape Breton in the early 90’s and then moved back to Halifax in 1999. During the 2000’s, they would keep busy being superintendents at their apartment building in Clayton Park. Margaret was an avid bingo player, loved to travel, stay fit at the local Good Life gym and had a special connection to all the furry and feathery members of the animal kingdom. Her ability to make pan fried haddock melt in your mouth will be forever missed. And then there were her tea biscuits and strawberry freezer jam. Goodbye Margaret – loving wife and caring mother - may you be at peace now and forever.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer society.
A ceremony and visitation will be held Wednesday January 25 at 2pm to 5pm at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive in Halifax.
