

DUNSWORTH, Margaret Theresa (McSweeney) – passed away at home on September 23, 2012. Margaret was born in Halifax in 1925 and lived here for most of her life. As her children grew, Margaret worked at St. Mary’s University Library for many years. She was extremely content in her role, especially when it involved helping students. Margaret spent many years volunteering with the Darjeeling Mission in Halifax which assisted Father Murray Abraham’s building of schools and communities in India. She was also involved with the Alzheimer Society, Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society. Margaret was an avid swimmer and tennis player at the Waegwaltic Club. She could always accomplish what she set out to do. She was a member of the Professional Engineers Wives Association of Nova Scotia. Margaret enjoyed and excelled at bridge; a joy she experienced until her death. Margaret was a wonderful mother and grandmother who took an active role in each of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She made each one feel uniquely special. Every person who met our mother was richer for the experience. She saw only goodness in everyone and that is how she conducted her life. Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Peter Joseph Dunsworth. She is survived by her sons Peter E. Dunsworth (Ann), Halifax, Michael J. Dunsworth, Head of St. Margaret’s, James C. Dunsworth (Jill), Head of St. Margaret’s; daughters Catherine Chapman (Ken), Stillwater Lake, and Sherry Dunsworth-Meyer (Jamie), Pasedena, Newfoundland; grandchildren Peter Fraser, Christopher O’Neil, Michael O’Neil, Adrian Meyer, Nicole Meyer, Patrick Dunsworth, Kathleen Dunsworth, Geoffrey Dunsworth, Stephanie Dunsworth, Stephen Dunsworth and Maggie Dunsworth. Margaret is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home. In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, Spring Garden Road on Thursday, September 27th at 9:30am. Interment at Gate of Heaven Columbarium.
