It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Maria Vroundas, on September 14, 2025 at the age of 88. Maria passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born in Vamvakou, Lakonia, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Polichronis and Panagiota Trouposkiadis.
Maria and her husband Nicholas, built a life together centred around their family and business. She was endlessly hardworking, resilient, and dedicated, always finding graceful ways to balance work and family life, while providing inspiration, love, and guidance to her children and family.
A big part of Maria’s life was her faith and she looked forward to attending services at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church.
Maria found joy in cooking, gardening, and long walks. She loved welcoming family and friends into her home, often sharing a Greek coffee, waiting with her “briki” in hand, always accompanied by laughs, kindness, and cherished stories.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas, her brother Emmanuel and sister Georgia. She is survived by her loving children, Kosta and Helen, godchildren, Stavroula and Giorgos. She also leaves behind her brother Vasili, sister Matina and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Palliative Care Unit at the VG for their compassion and support.
