ALGEE, Marie Agnes – 76, of Bedford passed away December 10, 2012 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Marie Algee.
Born in 1936 in Malagash/ Earltown, she was the daughter of Lee and Doris MacDonald.
Marie grew up in Earltown and attended school in Tatamagouche. She worked at Eaton’s for 20 years as well as Village Shadeworks in Bedford. Grannie or “Mama” as she was known as, was most happy in her kitchen cooking and baking for her family and friends. She “loved her life” and the time she spent gardening with her husband, going out for meals with her sisters and brothers-in-law, just being home enjoying her family, a good cup of tea and making everyone’s birthday and Christmas special. Her other moments of joy were spent rocking her 14 grandchildren and proudly watching them grow up. Many people were blessed by her kind and thoughtful nature. Thank you, Mom, for always being there, being our “rock” and for your humour and wit that we loved. We have been blessed to love and be loved by you.
Marie was survived by her husband, Gary Algee; daughters Heather Fralick, Vicki Walsh (Richard) and Lori Algee; sons Paul Fralick (Robyn), Lee Algee (Susan), son-in-law Allan Ivanko; sisters Judy, Leona, Dianne, Pat, Joan and Debbie; brother Don; and dear cousin, Peggy Gillen; 14 grandchildren: Zachari, Gabe, Malachi, Elijah, Chelsea, Kelly, Colin, Lindsay, Vanessa, Natalie, Holly, Chris, Jeremy, Taylore; several nieces and nephews and her loving little dog, Aggie.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Vanda Ivanko.
A memorial service will be held at St. Ignatius Church on Saturday, December 15th at 11:00am. Because of her love of babies and children, donations may be made to the IWK Health Centre in her memory.
Our heartfelt thanks to the special nurses and staff on 8.2 (you know who you are). We could not have gotten through this heartbreaking time without your kindness and caring.
