Age 87, passed away October 25, 2016 in Arborstone Enhanced Care, Purcells Cove Road. She died peacefully with her family and caregivers at her side. Born in Halifax, Janurary 17, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Marie (Fleet) and Leonard Collins. She was predeceased by husband, Murray Clyde Bond. Marie was the last remaining of six children. Predeceased by brothers, Leonard, Russell, Carl, and Robert Collins; sister, Helen Howell. She is survived by her only daughter, Deborah Lynn (Richard) Dunham.
Marie thought of Rick as her son. Her granddaughters, Rebecca Iris (Amin) Tran and Sarah Marie Dunham, were her pride and joy. They have fond memories of their grandmother and spending time with her at the cottage on Falls Lake in Vaughans. She shared her love of nature and animals with them and they loved doing crafts and walking to the waterfalls, never allowed too close to the side. These memories will be shared through stories told to her great-grandson's Franklin and Charles Arthur, and Emerson Tran. Marie worked at Eaton's for many years and then went to work for the federal government before her retirement. She spent her retirement years in Florida for the winter and at Falls Lake in the summer, where the squirrels, birds, and raccoons never went hungry. She moved to Arborstone Enhanced Care 11 years ago and the third floor staff became her extended family. They were very caring and loving of her until her final hours. This was extended to the family while we were waiting for her to take her final journey. Many thanks for your compassion and kindness. There will be no visitation by request. Family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral service commencing at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, in Vaughans United Church, 1604 New Ross Rd. Interment following the service in Vaughans Community Cemetery and reception in the Clockmakers Inn, Windsor. For those who wish, sympathy may be expressed through donations to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or
a charity of your choice.
