Marielle Bernadette (Demers) Love, of Halifax. It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother on December 29, 2016 at South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater NS.
Marielle was born in Edmundston, NB and was the youngest of six children born to Adolphe and Elmina (Berube) Demers. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics (cum laude) from Laval University in Quebec she completed her Graduate Dietetic Internship in New York City. She later moved to Halifax to work at Camp Hill Hospital as a dietitian and married Charles Hobson Love in 1964.
She later became Director of Dietetics at the Grace Maternity Hospital where she worked until 1968 when she left work to raise her family. She returned to the workforce when her daughters were in high school as a Federal Government Bilingual Telephone Operator.
Marielle enjoyed spending time with her family and friends the most. She was an avid reader, loved animals, music, going out to eat, cheering on her Toronto Blue Jays and seeing movies. More recently, she was a member of the Forrest Green Jewels and was active in yoga. Her fondest memories were of summers at the family cottage in Chance Harbour, Pictou County.
Marielle was predeceased by her parents and her brothers Adrien and Guynemer, her sisters Eliane, Rheta and Gratia, her husband Charles Hobson Love and her infant son, Mark Hobson Love.
She is survived by her daughters, Pascale (Philip Leefe) and Danielle, her granddaughters Elyse, Lauren and Amelie Leefe, her sister-in-law Frances Hanlon, her dear cousin Carmen Clark and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marielle kept her faith in God close to her heart.
Visitation will be held on Thursday January 5 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and a funeral service on Friday January 6 at 11am all to take place in JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
