She was born on June 24, 1923, in Burnt Woods, Lower Island Cove, Newfoundland. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Edith (Bursey) LeShane.
Marion met her husband Ron, a handsome sailor, while working in St, John’s during WWII and they were married on March 30, 1944. Ron was transferred to Halifax at the close of the war and he was followed shortly thereafter by Marion and daughter, Christina. Sons Wayne and Glenn were born later in Halifax. The family grew even larger when Marion and Ron bought a house which ended up being home to many friends and family from Newfoundland. Most noted were the Dimmer and Walsh families who became our extended family even to this day.
As time passed and the children grew older, Marion started working as a seamstress with Simpson’s where she worked for 14 years. In 1974, she and Ron returned to Lumsden NL to retire. Her retirement days were filled with knitting wool gloves, mittens, and socks for everyone, and looking after her grandchildren (and all their friends) in the summer months when they came to Lumsden to visit. She loved every minute the grandchildren were with her and really enjoyed the beautiful sunsets in Lumsden. During the winter months, Marion and Ron would spend their time in Nova Scotia and Ontario with their sons and daughter. One of her favourite past times was playing cards with friends and family. In 1989, they moved back to Nova Scotia and remained here until their passing.
She is survived by daughter, Christina (Peter) Corrigan, Bedford and sons, Wayne (Sandy) Gibbons, New Minas and Glenn (Susan) Gibbons, Oakville. Also survived by grandchildren – Andrea Corrigan, Ron (Suhassa) Corrigan, Jennifer (Will) MacLeod, John (Colleen MacDonald Blanchette) Gibbons, Chris (Christine) Gibbons, Meghan (Chris Cable) Gibbons, Michael Gibbons and step grandchild, Kyle Townsend and great-grandchildren, Dakota, Abby, Evan, Venessa, Mackenzie, Connor, Cate, Alexander and Sophia. Survived as well by sister-in-law, Mary LeShane, Newfoundland; brothers-in-law, Ross (Amy) Gibbons, Newfoundland, and Rowland Hood, Halifax, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ron in 1996. Also predeceased by sisters, Olive (Walter) Shaw, Florence (James) Slade, and Daphne Hood, as well as her brother, William LeShane.
