

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Marjorie Susan, at home on September 16, 2016, at the age of 99. She was born in St. Margarets Bay, the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Keddy) Fredericks.
She is survived by her daughters, Lorraine Hurshman (Russell), Mary Pothier (Phil), Pamela Scott (Brian); sons, Frank Sullivan (Isabel), John Scott (Maria); son-in-law, Buddy Purcell; grandchildren, Cheryl Purcell-Cotnam, Heather Hurshman, Scott Hurshman, Joanne Roberts, Philip and Laura Pothier, Robert Strum, Charlene Tasco, Rosalie Englehutt, Greg, Blaine, and Susan Sullivan, Julie and John Scott; great grandchildren, Michael Cotnam, Colin and Eric Roberts, Connor Verge, Lindsay and Jake Hurshman, Jazlyn, Brianna, and Kaiden Tasco, Katie and Matthew Strum, Katie Englehutt, Dale, Angel, Patrick, Chayce, Josh and Cameron Sullivan, and her great grandson due in November. She is also survived by several cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Bernard Scott; daughter, Shirley Purcell; sister, Florence Ward; brother-in-law, Gerald Ward, stepmother, Florence Fredericks; grandson, Frank Sullivan Jr. and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mom was not just an inspiration to her family but also to her friends, neighbours, and acquaintances. Her strong faith, her love of her family and zest for living sustained her through her long life.
Her remains will be resting at J.A. Snow Funeral Home,339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Monday, September 19 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 20 at 11:00 am in St. Mother Teresa of Kolkata Parish, Normandy Drive, Halifax, Father Andrew Rembarczyk presiding.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. David Tilley for his outstanding care and compassion over many years. Thanks also to Father Andrew for his spiritual and loving care. In memoriam donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
