

Ellen enjoyed being a stay at home mom, raising her 4 daughters. In later years she worked for Simpson’s in the Sales Audit Department where she met many of her lifelong friends. Ellen was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain family and friends with impressive dinners. As a devote Catholic, she served for many years on the Funeral Reception Ministry. She was generous in volunteering her time and was very involved in WISH (Widowed in Self Help). Her involvement with L’Arche Halifax was a testament to her commitment to helping transform the lives of intellectually disabled people in the community.
Ellen will be sadly missed by daughters, Beverly, Halifax; Patricia (Bruce) Burke-Dodds, Edmonton; Sandi Nash, Halifax; Susan (LCdr Michael) Butler, Toronto; grandchildren, Kristin, Joel, Craig, Alberta; Jeffrey, Halifax, Christopher, St. John’s; great grandchildren, Hayden, Cameron, Quinn, Paris, Alberta.
Survived by brothers, John, Antigonish; Mervin, Port Hawkesbury; sisters, Anne Proctor, Toronto; Loyola Proctor, Rose McIntyre, Evanston; Judy Kawaja, Port Hawkesbury; and many nieces and nephews. Ellen was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Ralph; brothers, Michael, Wallace, Arthur and son-in-law, Gary Nash.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Thursday, January18th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday, January 19th at Saint Benedict Church, 45 Radcliffe Drive, Halifax.
