Mavis Barbara Romkey

Mavis Barbara Romkey 93, born October 9, 1921, Riverport, NS, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2015 at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, NS. Mavis was the daughter of the late Captain Henry and Lettie Creaser.

She is survived by her devoted son, Barrie (Lynn); daughter-in-law, Margaret; grandsons, Michael (Amy), Jeffrey (Kate), Marc; great granddaughter, Harper; sister, Evelyn (Ritcey) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mavis was predeceased by her loving husband, Henry and eldest caring son, Brian.

After graduating from The Halifax, Business Academy, she worked for a brief time at the Halifax, Dockyard. Mavis devoted her life to raising her family and loved her family dearly. She was particularly proud of her grandsons and their accomplishments. Great granddaughter Harper brought a special joy to Mavis and a renewed purpose for life. Her love and caring was extended to all who knew her, with her graciousness and infectious smile. She loved entertaining at home in Halifax and Florida with family and friends.

Special thanks to the caring staff at all Parkland Retirement Facilities, Clayton Park, who took such great care of Mavis in her recent years.

A celebration of Mavis’ life will be held at Bethany United Church Chapel, 7171 Clinton Avenue, Halifax, on Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 am. Memorial donations in memory of Mavis may be made to the charity of your choice.
