

McNAMARA, Michael Gilbert – 69, Halifax, passed from the arms of his loving wife into the waiting arms of Jesus, July 9, 2010 at the QEII Heart Centre with family by his bedside. Born in Evanston, Richmond Co.,Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Clara and William James. Michael was retired from the NSLC, and was an active member of St. Lawrence Parish for 42 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Janet Pye of 47 years, three sons; Michael (Tracy), Craig, and Jason (Suzanne), one daughter, Angela (Scott), all of Halifax, six grandchildren; Shelby, Michael James, Travis, Madison, Liam and Breagh; three brothers; James (Irma), N.B., Gerald and Harold, Halifax; five sisters Stella, C.B., Ellen (Roy), Winnipeg, Lorraine, Joan, Hilda (Willie), all from Halifax, and sister-in-law Carol-Ann, C.B. He was predeceased by brothers Maurice, Billy, Norbert, and John. Michael loved life, adored his grandchildren, was a kind and gentle man, and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held Monday, July 12th from 2-4 & 6-8pm J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Funeral mass will be held 10am, Tuesday, July 13th in St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church. Father Bernie O’Neill officiating, assisted by Father Owen Connolly, with reception to follow.
