Michael was born in Montreal to Douglas and Patricia (Partridge) Smith. Besides his parents, Michael is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Jayne (Burgess) Halifax, sons Benjamin and Alexander at home, sister Cathy Noullett (Doug) of Calgary and brother Scott (Krista) of Fall River. Michael was a loving uncle to Jacob, Emily and Meghan and a supportive brother-in-law to Shawna. After graduation, he began his career at Proctor and Gamble in Toronto. From there, he moved back to his Maritime roots to work for Maritime Tel & Tel. It was through MT&T that he became involved with InfoInteractive a small technology start-up that Michael helped to grow and successfully sell to AOL. Most recently Michael continued to engage his entrepreneurial spirit as VP of Business Development at ViewPoint. Michael was a dedicated and active community volunteer. As a parent, he enthusiastically supported his sons through their many athletic and academic endeavors. He particularly enjoyed his affiliation with Scout’s Canada and took pride in coaching his son’s Osprey Basketball team. Michael’s greatest moments were those spent with his family and friends whom he dearly loved. Mike will be forever missed, and lovingly remembered.
