

Mohini Mathur, age 72 of Halifax passed away peacefully while surrounded by the loving care of her family and friends on Dec. 30, 2011 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre Halifax . Born in Patna(Bihar), India she was the daughter of the late Binda Prasad and Parvati Varma. Mohini was educated at Bihar University with two Master’s degrees in Education and in Arts(Psychology). She was a teacher at the Chapman Girl’s School in Muzaffarpur, Bihar India before emigration to Canada. Mohini was a member of the Vedanta Hindu Ashram for several years, an avid knitter and seamstress. Mohini was a life-long learner and was currently taking courses in philosophy and religious studies at Dalhousie University. She enjoyed meeting new people and was always surrounded by friends. She is survived by her husband Kripa Shanker Mathur, daughter Sunita(Chetan), son Dave, brother Jitendra Prasad Varma and nephew Herman Varma(Judy). She was predeceased by brothers Dr. D.P. Varma and Dr. U.P. Varma, sisters Madhuri Sinha and Manorma Ambastha. Visitation will be held Monday January 2, 1:30 to 2:30 pm. with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:30pm in JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Hfx. NS(455-0531), Dr. Swaminathan officiating.
