I was so sorry not to be able to attend  the service honouring Mona. 
I was  out of the country and flying home that day.   I met Mona when I was about 8 and she rented a room at our home, 19 Allen Street .  
That was the start of a long long friendship.   She was my idol as a child and friend as I grew older.   When she married and lived on Seaforth Street I babysat her children.   So many fun times .  Lots of laughter and deep discussions.  Mona made a difference to many ,and I was one of them.   With fond memories ,and sending heartfelt condolences to her children, great and grandchildren and siblings

She and Mom (Sadie Gillies) were good friends on Seaforth St., roller skating in particular. I have fond memories of babysitting David,  Danny , Lynn and Pam 💕
 

Our family was sad to hear of Monas passing. She was an awesome neighbor and was loved by all who had the privilege to know her.

I worked with Mona at Dominion Store Quinpool Rd back in the early 1970’s. Mona was a great influence and mentor to us teenagers starting out at our first job. I have thought of Mona many times over the years with great appreciation for the work ethics she instilled to me at a young age that followed me through my whole working career.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Mona when she volunteered as a Tartan Team member at Halifax Stanfield. She was a dedicated airport ambassador and so enjoyed the people she met and welcomed. She was very proud of her role with the Canadian Legion and one particular year, when she received a special honour with that organisation, her story was featured in the Tartan Team newsletter. What a full and interesting life she led. A distinguished life of service to her community. May she rest in peace.

“I am So Very Moved by the Loss of Mona Saulnier. I was fortunate enough to enjoy many Events & times, with Mona in recent years. Marching down Main St. in Winnipeg, alongside Mona, in our Legion Uniforms, carrying Flags, in a National Legion Parade, a number of years ago, was with Great Pride. Mona had an incredible sense of Humour, which I so enjoyed when she & her brother Art, were 'poking' fun at each other. It was so heartwarming to watch, & so full of Love. Such a Wonderful Family Mona belongs to.”



My condolences to Mona's family and friends on her passing.  I had numerous conversations with Mona during her time with the Royal Canadian Legion  Nova Scotia/Nunavut command while she held various positions on the executive.  She was always the one I spoke to when I needed a question answered during her time there.   She enjoyed a good laugh and loved to share one of her own.  I'd see her at the airport and we'd catch up and share a few stories.  You'll be missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing you or spent time with you.  Rest in Peace.

To Mona's family I send my family's love and support during this time of sadness.  But I send you also the best memories of our Greenwood Heights days as neighbours.  Wherever there was laughter, there was Mona.  Whenever you wanted company, there was Mona.  When a shoulder was needed  tbere was Mona.  Whenever PussPuss was laying in the middle of the street, Mona would move him.  Mona was the glue on Dorothy Crescent.  Always had a smile, several great jokes and a heart as big as all outdoors.  She will be remembered always.

Lynn, Pam. Danny and David.  We are so sorry for your loss. Mona was a very special lady in our life.  A next door neighbour who became a true friend during our years on Dorothy Crescent. Mona and Eleanor (my wife, Craig's mum) created so many wonderful moments in our lives as they blessed both our families with their humour, wisdom and wonderful spirits.  Mona was tireless in any undertaking and we were always impressed with her service to the Legion community.  We only remember the happy times she helped create during our Greenwood Heights days. So sorry to hear of your passing, since I live in  Edmonton I will not be able to attend your celebration but my heart is there. I am sure you will be missed by all always smiling from what I remember always a pleasant person to be around. 

Hugs to all of you, such sad news to hear. I don’t have to tell you how much she meant to the Pyke’s, she was such a part of our childhood. She was ahead of her time, strong and courageous, never had a problem telling it like it was, and we respected her for it.
