Bud is predeceased by the love of his life, Astrid Doucette-Sellars, with whom he shared many years of devotion, humour, and unwavering companionship.
Bud is lovingly remembered by his two cherished caregivers—“more like sons,” Jason Singler and Jeremy Doucette. He is also survived by his dear cousin Dolly Mintern, whom Bud always regarded as a sister, and his cousin Jacinta Mintern, whose visits Bud always looked forward to and deeply cherished, as well as several other cousins.
Jason and Jeremy will deeply miss their long drives and outings with Bud throughout Nova Scotia—moments filled with stories, laughter, and the quiet comfort of companionship. These drives became especially meaningful in the last year following the loss of his beloved wife Astrid, offering Bud support, healing, and the gentle presence of two people who cared for him deeply.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to friends and neighbours Tom and Carol, Paulette and Bill, and Willa for their kindness, support, and friendship. A special and sincere thank-you goes to Jeremy and Jason for their unwavering dedication over the years, helping to ensure that Bud and his late wife Astrid were able to remain safe, comfortable, and happy in the home they loved.
We would also like to thank the staff in Palliative Care for their kindness and support during Buds short stay. We also wish to express our sincere appreciation to the Homecare staff at Northwood and VON for the compassionate care and support they provided.
Bud will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Jason, especially, with whom he shared so many cherished hours and unforgettable memories.”
The family has chosen to honor Buds wishes with a small, intimate celebration of life among close family and friends.
