

Purvis, Muriel Viola (Hunt), 99, Halifax, passed away at Melville Lodge on April 16, 2025. She was the wife of the late John Purvis and daughter of the late Joseph and Susan Hunt. Muriel was predeceased by her sister, the late Vera Denty, by her daughter, the late Linda Hennessy and her nieces Muriel, Janet and Joan.
Her body is resting at J.A Snow’s Funeral Home in Halifax. Donations may be made to Bide a While Animal Shelter or a charity of their choice.
Muriel, known as Nana, was born in Halifax on July 15th,1925. She was a strong, independent woman right from the beginning. She had her first job at 16 years old at Evangeline Beverages and continued to be a hard worker until she retired in the early 1980’s. She was passionate about teaching Sunday School, being part of women’s crafting and cooking groups, Sewing and knitting, traveling with Grampy and helping others. Muriel was an animal lover of all kinds and was always reminiscing about the past. She loved her grandchildren and her great grandchildren as her own and was always there for them. May she rest in peace and be reunited with her beloved family.
Muriel will be forever remembered by her son-in-Law, Howard Hennessy (Nancy), grandchildren, Susan Oikle (Mark), Adam Hennessy (Katy) and great grand Children, Keith, Apostopher, Meridian and Readi Oikle. She will be missed by her pride and joy, her kitty, Jane.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 26, 2025 at 10:00am in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, reception to follow.
