

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Murray Joseph Boutilier, 81, of Bedford at the QEII on Friday, July 3. Born in Halifax on November 30, 1944, he was the son of the late Mary and Harold Boutilier of Fairview.
Throughout his life, Murray had two main hobbies, hockey and golf. During the winter, he often played hockey four days a week in the various leagues throughout Halifax and Sackville including the Halifax Keith’s and Sackville Panthers.
Once spring arrived, he couldn't wait to hit the links. He was a member of the Ashburn Golf Club for over forty years.
Murray also believed in giving back to his community. He was an active member of the Bedford Lions Club and also a member of the Knights of Columbus. For several years he was active in St. Vincent de Paul Society in Bedford.
He also had a great love of music. For many years he was a member of Bedford Leisure Club. He spent many Wednesday nights strumming along with his fellow musicians.
For over thirty-five years, Murray worked for Oland Brewery Limited as a power engineer.
He is survived by his wife Ann of 46 years. He is also survived by one daughter, Linda, three grandchildren, Nick, Christopher and Matthew, and three great grandchildren. Also survived by one sister, Kitty Slade, Halifax, and brother Ron (Susan) Lower Sackville and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Mary and Harold Boutilier and a brother-in-law, Cyril Slade.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 10 at 7-9PM at J A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday July 11th, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 1288 Bedford Hwy, Bedford at 11AM. A reception will follow in the church hall.
