
KEEPING, Myril (Skip) – 85, of Halifax, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in the QEII. Born in Ramnea, Newfoundland. He was the son of the late Martin and Agnes Keeping. Skip was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, The Merchant Navy. He also worked at both the Halifax Shipyards and Dockyard, and retired from the NSLC at the age of 65. He was a life member of the Chief and Petty Officers at Stadacona. For many years, Skip was an Umpire for Nova Scotia Soft Ball.
He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 58 years Joyce (Drake), daughters Gail (Leonard) Wilson, Tara (Ralph) Hillyard, sons Gary (Lorna), Paul (Karen) and Glenn; grandchildren Tracy (Tony) Peers, Joey (Leah) Wilson, Cory Keeping, Leah Gaudet, Garry Jr. Keeping, Roger (Amanda) Hollett, Clinton Hollett, Sara Hollett, Adam (Janine) Keeping, Tyler (Jade) Keeping, Sydney (Ryan) Barry, Kaitlyn Keeping, Amanda and Jeffrey Bookholt; great-grandchildren Griffin, Landon Peers, Olivia Wilson, Markus and Jayna Keeping. Besides his parents, Skip was predeceased by his brothers Norman, Ran, Louis and Chester; sisters Rita, Francis, Ruby and Annie.
There will be no visitation by the family’s request. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 17th at 2:00pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531; Rev. Dianna Frye officiating. No flowers please. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
