She was blessed with a long and loving marriage with her husband Reo for 73 years. She was a very caring and loving mother, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Myrtle was always a pleasant and sociable person, with a genuine interest in whomever she met, and made positive connections with people wherever she went. She valued the many friendships she made through her long involvement in her bridge club and bowling league, in which she was active into her 80’s. For forty years until recently she and Reo spent summers at their cottage on Sober Island, and were part of the community there as well. She was a life-long faithful member of the Anglican church and for many years was a Sunday school teacher and member of the altar guild. Most recently she was a member of the parish of Trinity Church.
Besides her husband Reo, she is survived by sons Philip (Theresa) and Victor (Charlene), grandchildren Christopher (Andriana), Martin (Kara) and Laura (Peter), and great-grandchildren Colton and Bryson Day and Margot Carrington; as well as sisters Marion Gibbons and Dorothy Ward, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Stella Ripley, Eileen Holman, and Betty Louise Conrod (in infancy), and brothers Gordon and Albert Conrod.
Funeral arrangements have been delayed until a later date.
Donations may be made to Trinity Anglican Church, Halifax, or any charity of choice.
