Perry, Myrtle Rose – passed away peacefully in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Feb. 3, 2011. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Ada (Handrigan) Boyden. In 1947, Myrtle married the love of her life, Lonny. Together they created a wonderful family and neighbourhood business, Perry’s Pharmacy Ltd., Bayers Rd. Along with working full time in the pharmacy, Myrtle was a dedicated wife and mother to her five daughters. Despite the demands of motherhood and career, Mom was a gifted musician. An accomplished pianist, she was self taught in accordion, guitar, harmonica, and ukulele. She also enjoyed many handcrafts including knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Mom also enjoyed frequent shopping/camping trips to the New England States. “If the car was going, Mom always wanted to be in it.” Mom, a true lady, was never seen without her lipstick. She will always be remembered for her love of Christmas, especially her “pursuit of the perfect tree”. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Sharman Sampson (Robert), Karen Clarke, Diane Wesley (Jay), Marilyn Mazerolle (David), and Joy Higgins (Kirk), her grandchildren, Leigh-Anne (Greg), Michael (Darcy), Kathryn (Kevin), Holly, Gillian (Drew), Craig, Kristen, Brittany, Scott, and Alanah and her great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Annika, Hayden, Kendra, and Kaylee. Predeceased by husband Laurence, parents, and siblings Joseph and Maria in infancy. Visitation Snows Funeral Home, Lacewood Dr. Monday, Feb. 7th – 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Funeral service Tuesday, Feb. 8th. at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
