Neil John Bergman

Neil was born in Edmonton, Alberta to Reverend John and Lillian (Rowledge) Bergman. He was the eldest of four brothers, Neil, Grant, Mark, and Reid Bergman.

Neil and his first wife, Bonita Nell (Nettles) of New Orleans, Louisiana, had two children, Andrew and Karl Bergman. Andrew and Theresa (Rogers) had two children, Emma and Katie Bergman. Karl and Viviana (Yang) had two children, Kaine and Uma Bergman.

In 1986, he married Shirley Ramey of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. They were married for thirty-six years until her death in 2023.

Neil was an excellent scholar and graduated as valedictorian of his high school. He held two master's degrees including a Master of Divinity.

Neil was the regional minister for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He served as a pastor for Disciple churches in Hustonville and Lancaster, Kentucky, as well as Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and was a long-serving pastor at West Gore Disciple Church.

Neil was the owner of of Andrew-by-the-Lake Development Company, through which he developed many properties throughout Nova Scotia.

Neil loved history, science, his extended family, and the many people who were in his congregations. He will be dearly remembered by those who were affected by his love and compassion.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 24, from 6pm to 8pm at JA Snow Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at West Gore Disciple Church on Saturday, July 25, at 2pm. A burial will follow at West Gore Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved Shirley.
