Age 80, of both Northfield, Hants Co., and Halifax. It is with profound sadness that the family announces the death of Norman Miller. He passed away on October 23, 2019 while recovering from a recent heart procedure. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends. In his younger years, Norman was an accomplished sailor, first racing Bluenose class on the North West Arm and later sailing the schooner "Meredith Ann" . In recent years he and his partner Sheila Snow, took to the water again while living in Port Dufferin. In 1971 Norman was general manager of Kmart Auto Centers for the Province of Ontario. At this time he became involved with Quarter horses. This would become his passion as he loved horses for their grace, beauty and intelligence. In 1974 he returned to Nova Scotia and began a breeding operation known as Shenandoah Farms. He purchased Diamond Jim, the son of the AQHA Supreme Champion, Diamond Duro to stand stud thus bringing the Diamond Duro bloodline to the Maritimes. He also ran Seahorse Riding Academy, a summer live-in experience for young riders. He owned Seahorse Auto and Tire. Most recently, Norman worked for Dynamex Courier Service. He served as shop steward while there, enjoyed his fellow workers and especially the freedom this occupation offered allowing him to travel the Province, meeting many people. He retired in 2018 at the age of 79. Norman is survived by his partner, Sheila Snow, Halifax; his daughter, Colleen Marie Miller of Calgary; brother, Jonathan (Pamela Curry) of Halifax; sister, Meredith Ann Miller-Burns, Sober Island; and sister-in-law, Susan Miller of Halifax; nephews, Bernard Francis Miller, Dr. Robert Miller, Jason Miller, Christopher Miller and Matthew Russell; nieces, Carole Ann Miller and Joanne Shore. Miller Jr. A special thanks to Chris Hannaford who helped Norman in so many ways for so many years. Norman referred to him as the son he never had. A memorial service will take place in J. A.
