Patricia (“Pat”) Louise Christopher (nee Rose) passed away on January 17, 2026 in Halifax with family near her side and friends and family in her thoughts. Pat left us shortly after her 86th birthday, having lived a full and active life in Nova Scotia.
Pat’s parents George Charles Rose and Mary Louise Rose (nee Langlois), her brothers George Charles Rose Jr (Vivian) and Hubert Joseph Rose (Paula), twin sisters Ethel May and Geneva Ann, preceded Pat. Pat’s husband of 61 years, Kenneth Gordon Christopher, sons Donald (Denise) and Robert (Jennifer), grand-children Sarah (Cody), Emilie (Madeline), Elizabeth, and Katherine, great-grandson Kayden, sisters-in-law Vivian Rose and Paula O’Sullivan, many nieces and nephews and cousins and their spouses, as well as numerous friends, all survive Pat and will keep her memory.
Pat was born on January 6, 1940 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a child, she and her family lived on Agricola Street and Sebastian Place in the North End. The family moved to Chebucto Road during her teen-age years. Pat graduated from Saint Patrick’s High School and Mount Saint Vincent University in 1957. She then started a long career as a bookkeeper at insurance companies (Jack & Company) and law firms.
Pat met Ken Christopher at the Dalhousie Rink in 1962. They married in May of 1964, moved to a newly built house in Fairview, raised two sons, made many friends, and managed a successful family-owned business until they retired in the early-2000’s.
During her childhood, Pat enjoyed and excelled at figure skating, usually at the Halifax Forum. As an adult, she developed a life-long interest in sewing, quilting, and crocheting, as evident by the many blankets, quilts, and other items she made and gifted to friends and charities. She supported her sons’ interest in scouting and camping by becoming a Beaver and Scout Leader in Fairview, encouraged their participation in sports, and was a strong advocate of their education and careers in engineering. Pat enjoyed having many friends and family visit her and was generous with her time. In later years, she enjoyed spending time with Ken and their grandchildren and great-grandson.
A Celebration of Life for Pat will be held in Spring 2026. Her ashes will be interred at a later date.
Contributions in memory of Pat can be sent to the Canadian Diabetes Society.
