Born in Halifax, February 24, 1941, Passed away at the Victoria General Hospital after a brave fight with Cancer. Predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Alex (Jessie) Dunphy, Raymond; His sister, Gladys (John) Poirier; His beloved wife Martha (Dominie). He will be greatly missed by his son, Michael (Cheryl), Granddaughters Gillian (Matt) Macleod, Dominique (Jamie) Techentin and Cheyenne; Great Granddaughters Charlotte and Addison; His many brothers-in-law, Sisters-in-law, as well as his nieces and nephews.
He began his working career at Halliday’s Hardware in Halifax, working for precision homes and Oland Breweries until his retirement. He was an avid golfer, enjoying many rounds played with his friends and his son. He loved playing his guitar at many jams in Bedford, Sackville, and Prospect. He enjoyed all types of music and loved to entertain at senior homes and a proud member of the Bedford Fiddlers. He loved fishing with his buddies and time on his beloved “Gillian D” sailing on the Halifax Harbour. He Enjoyed travelling to many places across the world with his beloved Martha and Family. His love of music was always apparent as he always had a song on the tip of his tongue and dance steps at the ready.
We would like to extend our thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Palliative unit 7A for their compassion and care. A special thanks to Dawn, Katie, and Barbara Stewart.
His family would have loved to celebrate his life with all those whose lives he touched, however, due to Covid restrictions, there will be no visitation and a memorial service by invitation only.
