

The son of the late John & Margaret (MacIntosh) McNair, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret (Peggy Stoneman); children, Paul, Victoria BC and Deborah, Halifax as well as siblings, Ron (Judy) and Jean (Robert Moore) as well as numerous in-laws and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Jack (Kay), Tommy (Joyce), Stephen and sister Selena.
Born in Halifax, he worked for Sears as a Supervisor for 32 years.
Pat was active in community activities as a cub master, leading school trips and serving on Sear’s Social Club for many years. It was following his retirement in 1983 that Pat gave more than three decades of remarkable service to the community.
He volunteered weekly for more than 25 years for both the Heart & Stroke Foundation and Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. Pat started the Volunteer Auxiliary at Fairview Villa and served as President of the Sear’s Retiree’s. Active with the Friends of the Citadel he played Father Christmas to thousands of children and was active with the Monarchist League. In appreciation of being a multiple heart surgery patient, Pat was dedicated to the Open Heart Support Team having visited over 2200 patients awaiting surgery.
Pat received the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal as well as the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2003 he was awarded the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award along with his wife, Peggy.
A service is scheduled for 1 pm on Monday, June 26 at Snow’s Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, with a reception and visitation to follow.
