Dear family

...you do not know me, but I feel I know you. I wish to extend my condolences  and explain why  I am adding this memory.
I had the happy occasion to meet Paul
while I was staying at a rental to the left of the summer home. Other side of Brian Moore's place.
I fell in love with the summer home especially  the rock  wall!
Paul was in the yard and everytime I looked he had turned  the  other  way, apparently  he said later I was doing the same to him.
Anyway we met, much to my delight!
Yes, he could talk and I loved it!

I expressed  my keen  interest  in the property and as it was late he invited me back to see the "blacksmith " shop.
He asked  what was a good time. I asked him, thinking  pm ish. His suggestion 9am.
So that it was.
I arrived 9am. 
But before  the tour he wanted to show me something  else. The beautiful summer home! From stepping into the comfy "reading room", to the kitchen/dining room, where the chairs were modified to adjust to the floor and on to the parlor where we had a "chat" and then some conversation. Then on the formal dining room.
And sorry Ruth Ann, you were in hospital for a few days, as he said Ruth Ann will kill me if she knows I showed  you the upper back workshop, which I fell in love with. 
He asked what would you do with it. I said nothing, just add a lamp and a wing back chair and you are done!

Then on to the blacksmith's  shop, the Barn, pointing out the French drain and on to the hill side cabin overlooking the water.

He talked so lovingly of you Ruth Ann, and also Catherine of you, and their trip to visit you in one of your foreign assignments, I can' t remember but maybe in the East.
And yes, his special Susan.

I often  thought of stopping in the summer to meet up again, but as it goes.

I have been fortunate too to of travelled to quite a few far flung destinations, but the weekend I met Paul will remain one of my favorite!
Again my deepest sympathy, but what beautiful  memories. 

Dear Family
Unfortunately, I never met Paul, but through a wonderful and unique  obituary I know I would have loved to have known him. I am sure it was his humor to have suggested the obituary be kept short, however, I would have thought he would have been more Scotch rather than Irish to have said it. I am sure his grandchildren know and will remember him. God Bless the family and especially Susan at this time.

Dear Catherine and Doug,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Paul. Although I only knew him for a short time, he was always genuinely  kind whenever I saw him at Shannex. Please know that John and I are thinking of you both and may fond memories keep your dear father close.

Dear Ruth Ann, Cathy and Susan,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your dear husband and father. He will surely be missed. Thinking about Paul will always bring a smile to my face. The last time that I saw him was at my Mom's (Joan Collins) funeral at the end of 2012. She was so very fond of Paul and talked about  his kindness. At Christmastime, I received a lovely card and note from Paul and I will cherish that always.

We (Bev and I) visited Paul and RuthAnn several times over the last few years. 
We always enjoyed Paul’s talk about the family .  Unfortunately we were unable to see him this year due to COVID. We offer our sincere sympathy.  We hope RuthAnn is in good hands .
