

CUGNO, Paul Sebastian – Passed away peacefully in Halifax, Friday, September 24, 2010. Born in Sicily, May 3, 1939, the son of Emanuele and Emanuela Cugno moved to Montreal in 1949. He was a graduate of Loyola High School and Loyola College (University of Montreal). As an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy, he met Carole Marie Powell while stationed in Halifax, and they married in 1963. An accomplished businessman, Paul began his career in Montreal, working his way into executive positions at CHUBB Security, ROLM Canada, and Gtech Nord. In 1985 he moved to Halifax and became CEO of Hermes Electronics. After serving as President and CEO of KB Electronics, he retired in 1999. In retirement, Paul spent his time doting on his grandchildren and pursuing his passion for investing. He is survived by his wife Carole, sons Paul (Lina), Michael (Melanie), Peter (Louise), daughter Maria Thérèse “Terri”, grandchildren Madelyn, Julia, Katharine and James, brother Vincent (Jocelyne), brother-in-law Alan Powell, sisters-in-law Helen Powell, Judy (John) Horgan, Deborah Powell, former sister-in-law Francine Richer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
